A power chair is not a manual wheelchair with a motor on it: it is heavier, it turns differently and it needs room. Hiring the wrong one means a chair that will not go through the bathroom door or will not fit in the lift. That is why, before you book, we would rather spend five minutes on the phone with you.

The four questions we are going to ask you
They are the same ones we ask in the shop, and they head off almost every problem:
- The weight of the person who will use it. Every model has a limit and it is worth
sticking to it.
- Door widths, the bathroom one above all. It is where most hires
come unstuck.
- Is there a lift? And if there is, how big it is inside. A power chair does not
go up stairs.
- Where will it be used? Indoors, the promenade, hills. It changes which model
we recommend.

Power chair or scooter
It is the most common question, and the answer is usually clear:
- A power chair if the person spends many hours sitting, has limited
upper-body mobility, or will also be using it indoors. It turns in less space and is driven with a joystick.
- A scooter if the person walks a little, can sit and stand unaided, and mainly
wants it for going out and covering distances. It is faster and more comfortable outdoors.
